So ... who is kevin?
A few years ago, a wild turkey, lovingly named Kevin, adopted Fruit Heights. More importantly, the residents of Fruit Heights adopted Kevin, too. Instead of hanging out in the many wilderness areas of our city, Kevin wanted to be part of the action. Actually, Kevin stopped the action. Kevin was known to walk right out on Mountain Road, or even US 89, and just have a party. Kevin wouldn't budge until he wanted to. He was known to be a bit grumpy at times, too. He would often peck at cars and bikes as they went by. Or, as drivers would roll down their windows, Kevin was happy to have an up close conversation, debating the weather, the speed limit, or local politics.
Kevin gained quite a fan club. Pictures and sightings of Kevin grew in popularity. He even had an Instagram page where residents could share fun adventures with Kevin. Sadly, Kevin is no longer with us. Much debate surrounds the question: What happened to Kevin? Some believe he met his demise by a wild animal. Some believe, that like Elvis, Kevin is still here, just living a more private life.
Whatever the case, Kevin remains a much loved figure. He was honored in the City's Halloween display in 2022, and then again in a turkey hunt which lead residents on a scavenger hunt to find hidden turkeys around the city. Kevin was honored in our recent chalk festival, and now, Kevin is a key figure in our display at the USU Botanical Garden Scarecrow Walk in Kaysville. Go visit the display, and VOTE FOR KEVIN as a fan favorite!
