Welcome to Fruit Heights City’s Emergency Management site. The Emergency Management program is responsible for coordinating the combined efforts and resources from all levels of government and various volunteer organizations to assist and protect the citizens of Fruit Heights from the effects of disasters, both natural and manmade. Fruit Height’s program supports the community before, during and after unusual events and major disasters by focusing on prevention, protection, response, recovery and mitigation activities.
The City’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) identifies hazards the City is exposed to and provides guidelines to accomplish the primary objectives of saving lives and protecting public health and property. This plan is updated regularly based on lessons learned during training, exercises and actual emergencies. Questions about the plan may be directed to the Emergency Program Manager.
Another important part of the City’s Emergency Management program is the establishment of the Fruit Heights Citizen Corps Council (FHCCC) to promote community preparedness through an organizational structure dividing the City into Districts, Areas and Blocks. Volunteers serve as District and Area Coordinators, and Block Captains. The Emergency Preparedness Manager trains District Coordinators to work with citizens, faith based organizations, businesses, and other community groups to promote citizen preparedness, including Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. CERT teams in Fruit Heights are organized and coordinated under the direction of District and Area Coordinators. The FHCCC also encourages citizen participation in weekly Amateur Radio Communication tests.
The purpose of the Fruit Heights City Emergency Management effort is to build a safe and friendly community through commitment to duty and emergency preparedness.

CERT Training Classes Offered
Fruit Heights in cooperation with Kaysville City Fire Department offers CERT training on a regular basis throughout the year. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program trains participants in basic disaster response skills and disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area.
CERT training also includes basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT members become equipped to assist others in their neighborhoods or workplaces following an event when professional responders are not immediately available. For more information on CERT training in general, visit: fema.gov
For more information about the next CERT training dates, contact the Fruit Heights City Offices.
